Best Android Headunit for a Ford?

If you have the rectangular original Ford stereo, you may be mistaken that it is a 2 DIN. Unfortunately, Ford has their dimensions for a stereo, and this includes an Android headunit.

Fit a universal headunit?

While finding a universal double din into a Ford aperture is possible, it may not work out the best or most value-for-money route to Android. Consider a universal 2DIN pumpkin with super specifications, but it will require a fascia, a wiring kit, and a Connects2. Why a fascia, wiring kit, and a Connects2 adaptor?

The Fascia is required to fill the gap and make up the difference in dimensions between the Ford stereo shape and the universal 2DIN shape. This gives the Android headunit a very finished look. Without it, there will be unsightly gaps around the sides.

A wiring kit can be a simple solution to convert the ISO standard plugs on the universal to the Ford design plugs.

The correct connects2 adaptor will allow the factory-fitted Ford steering wheel controls (SWC) to operate and interface with the universal Android headunit.

Bypass the problems

Avoid all the additional costs of the extras required to fit a universal android into the Ford aperture by fitting a custom-fit Ford android headunit. The custom fit is already the right size and shape to replace the standard Ford fitting stereo without the need for any fascia. You also get the correct wiring plugs designed to connect to the Ford harness, just as the original Ford stereo you are replacing. ‘Plug and Play,’ no need to source adaptors, no wires to find, cut and join, and much less time-consuming to fit. Lastly, the CAN BUS adaptor supplied with the Ford custom fit android headunit will connect to the Ford system and interface with the factory SWC. No additional adaptor to connect saves even more parts to the source.

Run Android Apps in a Ford.

As always, buying an Android headunit for the Ford vehicle is to access many free and paid apps on the google play store. The android headunit will run these apps, be it a Launcher screen or a free GPS-controlled Sat Nav like google maps or Waze, naively inside the android headunit and only rely on a phone for a data connection (although not necessary).

The Specifications

Apps in 2021 need a current Android specification to run well. Not only in 2021 but the future life of the Android headunit will have newer and more RAM/Processor hungry features added. This is inevitable as the Android telephone handset specifications and apps for those phones advance. The Android headunits use the same apps as the phones and need a reasonable specification to run the apps of today and future apps.

The best Android headunit for a Ford?

We like the YUNTX-A900 designed for the Ford Fiesta, Kuga, Transit, and Focus with the Square Ford factory-fit stereo. The A900 has a very popular, very quick PX6 – hexacore processor. This processor is among the top-tier processors currently fitted to Android headunits and will provide a sound ‘future proofing’ option. Coupled with its 4Gb RAM, this lands at the top tier of Android headunits and rivals many phones. More apps will need more RAM to run smoothly and to stay responsive when switching apps. With a world of free apps on the play store, don’t limit yourself to what you can run on the Android headunit by picking an obsolete or even a faked Android headunit for your Ford.
